Dogs of Chernobyl 2019 Campaign

September 22, 2019

We are really starting to see the wonderful effects of our Spay/Neuter efforts over the past 2 years. It is obvious the number of new puppies born has decreased and the dogs and cats are looking healthier due to increased veterinary care.

We decided to start our 2019 campaign in Slavutych first this year with a weeklong Spay/Neuter/Vaccination event. The response was overwhelming for a total of 410 dogs and cats helped in Slavutych worker town. Everyone joined forces during the night to round up the feral cats, while pet owners lined up at the shelter to have their personal pets seen by our team. It was an intense weeklong effort that put smiles on everyone’s faces. We were even able to do emergency surgery on a dog that had a urinary obstruction and would have surely succumbed if surgery was not performed at 10 pm in the evening. We could not be any prouder of how our team came together to help the people and pets of Slavutych.

The next 2 weeks were spent in Chernobyl town and at the Power plant catching, vaccinating, microchipping, and sterilizing 275 dogs and cats that reside in the area. We are eager to return in 2020 for another campaign.

With enormous gratitude, we would like the thank the members of our team that were with us onsite in Ukraine to participate in the 3rd annual Clean Futures Fund Dogs of Chernobyl Spay/Neuter/Vaccination Clinic in 2019.
